About RUMC

We started as Malaysia’s first accredited private medical institution in 1996, known as Penang Medical Campus (PMC).

We were formed to fulfil the need for a medical institution in the northern region.

With our parent universities, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and the University of Dublin (UCD), we’ve adopted the name RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC).

Foreign University Branch Campus

We received the University status from the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MoE) in 2018.

We are known as a Foreign University Branch Campus; one of the highest levels for a foreign-owned institution in Malaysia.

RUMC remains the only Irish Foreign Branch Campus in the region.

Internationally-Recognised Irish Medical Degree

Our graduates are conferred with a medical degree from the National University of Ireland (NUI) and the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). This is an added value to our medical students as they could explore the opportunities to practice Medicine abroad.

We are also listed as an Irish medical in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS).

The Irish medical degree provides our graduates with recognition to practise in the USA, the UK, Ireland, Canada and others by EFMG and FAIMER.

RUMC has graduated more than 2,100 medical students who are now providing their healthcare services in various countries around the world.
