According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), safe motherhood means ensuring all women receive the care they need to be safe and healthy throughout pregnancy and childbirth. Motherhood should be a time of expectation and joy for a woman, her family and the community.
The safe motherhood course was held virtually via Zoom on 9th of March 2022 for all trainees from the Central Scheme. Some of the trainees from the Northern Scheme participated as well.
The goal of the National Safe Motherhood Program is to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality and to improve maternal and neonatal health through preventive and promotive activities as well as by addressing avoidable factors that cause death during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
